The fangtooth is one of the deepest living fish in the sea. They can be found as far as 5,000 meters (16,000 ft) down, but they are more commonly found around 200 and 2,000 meters (660 and 6,560 ft). They posses some of the largest teeth of any fish in the ocean proportionate to body size. Despite their fearsome appearance, they only reach a length of about 16 cm, (6.3 in) and are harmless to humans.
