William Spreckley (1893-1974)
A British Lieutenant at the outbreak of WWI, Spreckley was injured while defending Ealing Trench during the Battle of Ypres in Belgium. He lost his entire nose in a grenade blast. His new nose was reconstructed from cartilage from one of his ribs.
